Ever since I accepted the fact that I'm most likely going to be bald (as my genetics suggest), I was pretty bummed out. However, it suddenly hit me that being bald could be totally rad, providing I have an adventure beard to compensate:
I tried to challenge myself by drawing the food court at Publix. Backgrounds are still out of my comfort zone, but it feels good exploring new things:
I know what you're thinking, but I did not exaggerate the woman on the lower left. In fact, I think I might have not underdone her a bit. It was a strange, yet inspiring site...
I can't tell if my baby drawing at the bottom left is cute, disturbing, or both...

This killed me, but I suppose it was worth it, though next time I think I'll focus on getting the feeling of the figure as opposed to trying to copy it exactly.

I wanted to make a little Independence Day themed story about a little firecracker trying to escape his doom. Little did I know, this thing was going to take four days to make, and I was hoping to post it on July 4th, but now I know to start a holiday oriented project before the actual holiday.
I really enjoyed making this and I think I might have a newfound love of storyboarding and animatics. It's fun trying to exaggerate everything from facial expressions to poses to the overall drama of a situation. You might have noticed I drew some inspiration from the one and only John Kricfalusi. There's just something great about cartoons that have a bizarreness to them. I hope to make more of these, especially during my concept class this coming year at Ringling.
